Best Christian Fantasy Novels

Recommendations for Christian fantasy books. Also, check out my lists for Christian sci fi, superhero/zombiehistorical, and general fiction.

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
The children's classics. Of course you've read them.

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
I prefer the movie versions for this long journey, but I couldn't really leave this out, right?

Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis
A fascinating retelling of the Cupid/Psyche myth. The hardest of Lewis' books to grasp the Christian angle of.

The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson
Starting with On The Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, this is a fun and refreshing adventure both children and adults can enjoy.

The Blood of the Lamb Trilogy by Mark E. Rogers
This series retells the story of Christ in a gritty fantasy world. It follows the Zorachus series, which, although filled with Christian themes, is for adults only.

The Trophy Chase Trilogy by George Bryan Polivka
Starting with Legend of the Firefish, these stories of duty and adventure in the land of Nearing Vast didn't grab me at first, but definitely grew on me.

The Book of Dun Cow by Walter Wangerin Jr.
An evil threatens the a peaceful society of farm animals, led by the mighty rooster Chanticleer. Good stuff.

The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald
A fun children's adventure from the guy who inspired C.S. Lewis. Good stuff.

Godstone: The Kairos Boxes by G.A. Williams
An adventurous tale of a boy who goes back in time with his eccentric uncle using a magic box. Unfortunately, it's set up for a series that I don't the author is going to finish.

100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson
A wall full of cupboards that lead to magical worlds. Great for kids probably, not too impressed as an adult. I would recommend Leepike Ridge by this author, though.

The Green Ember by S.D. Smith
Two young rabbits get caught up in a rebellion against the evil wolves. Definitely liked. The sequel gets even better, but the prequel is just alright.

Knife by R.J. Anderson
An independent fairy has to uncover the truth about her dying species. The Christianity features mostly in book two, but the whole series is good. Much better than you might imagine a fairy story would be. Also, check out A Pocketful of Murder, a mystery set in a world of spell-making by the same author.
